- Step 1
Maximizing your calories is key to a healthy diet. Protein will keep you full while more expensive, calorie-loaded snack foods will not. Make sure to include protein in all your meals to keep you full while in class, at work, and hanging out with friends. Between meals, eat healthy snacks such as fruit, vegetables, and nuts.
- Step 2
Buy large cartons of plain yogurt, it is a lot more versatile than flavored yogurt. You can use it as a low-fat mayonnaise or sour cream substitute, mix it with jelly or jam to create fruit yogurt, eat it with granola and fresh fruit, and use it in protein smoothies.
- Step 3
Buy frozen vegetables. If you live by yourself or don't share food with your roommates, it can be hard to eat fresh produce before it goes bad. Vegetables are great for stir fry or a snack and are high in vitamins.
- Step 4
If you do live with someone, a couple things that you both eat regularly and share them. For example, trade off buying gallons of milk. You might not be able to drink a gallon of milk before it goes bad by yourself and by only buying one for two people, you will have extra room in your refrigerator.
- Step 5
Make a big batch of spaghetti or cook a large amount of chicken at the beginning of the week. You will have your meals set for several days.
